Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mexico implemented changes related to conformity certificates, origin certificates, and compliance with Official Mexican Norms to facilitate the importation of goods.

 

On 10 March 2020, the Standardisation Administration of China (SAC) issued a plan outlining the key areas for standardisation work in 2020. GPQI has translated the document in English for reference.

 

The seventh annual meeting of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure took place on 16th and 17th January 2020 in New Delhi. Germany and India established the Working Group in 2013 to strengthen their economic and technical cooperation, reduce technical barriers to trade, and increase product safety. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Indian Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD) in collaboration with other ministries are working closely together on standardisation, accreditation and conformity assessment, metrology, product safety and market surveillance.

The Indo-German discussion paper “Securing the Internet of Things Together” was released at the 7th Annual Meeting of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure on 16 January 2020 in New Delhi. The discussion paper was developed by the Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) in cooperation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Data Security Council of India (DSCI).

Trade and technologies are not limited to regional and national boundaries. International standards can facilitate global trade and the spread of new technologies by effectively removing technical barriers to trade. This helps to create new market opportunities and promotes economic growth.

To achieve the vision “one nation - one standard”, the Indian government is encouraging more than 50 Standards Developing Organisations (SDOs) to engage more actively in standards development. This shall contribute to a more coordinated and harmonised formulation of standards within the country and internationally.
