In November 2019, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry has published several new draft Quality Control Orders (QCOs). QCOs are issued by Indian regulators to introduce technical regulations such as mandatory certification requirements based on Indian standards.

German Stakeholders Proposed Cooperation Topics to Reduce Market Access Challenges ahead of Working Group Meeting in India
More than 30 representatives from industry associations and companies, standardisation bodies, and subordinate government organisations came together on 15 November to discuss next year’s topics and priorities for the Indo-German cooperation on quality infrastructure. The meeting at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) in Berlin took place in preparation of the 7th Annual Meeting of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure on 16 and 17 January 2020 in New Delhi.
Indo-German dialogue on role of Standards Developing Organisations intensified: Indian delegation visits Berlin and Frankfurt
To achieve the vision “one nation - one standard”, the Indian government is encouraging more than 50 Standards Developing Organisations (SDOs) to engage more actively in standards development. This shall contribute to a more coordinated and harmonised formulation of standards within the country and internationally.
Modi and Merkel reaffirm commitment to Indo-German cooperation on Quality Infrastructure
At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited India from 31 October to 1 November 2019 for the 5th Indo-German Inter-Governmental Consultations. Chancellor Merkel was accompanied by the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Minister of Education and Research, the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, as well as further delegates and industry representatives.

Contribution of Indo-German Cooperation for Harmonised Electric Mobility Standards at Conference of the Charging Interface Initiative
On 18 October, GPQI-India presented the contribution of the Indo-German cooperation for harmonised electric mobility standards at the second India Conference of the Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN) in New Delhi. The conference brought together Indian and international experts from government and industry.
Indo-German Technical Cooperation in the Automotive Sector: Experts discuss successes and opportunities
More than 35 experts and representatives from government, industry and technical institutions came together in New Delhi for an exchange on technical cooperation in the automotive sector on 17th October. Homologation, regulations and standards of intelligent transportation systems and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles as well as future cooperation topics for the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure were discussed.
